Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all requirements of the task by summarizing the main features and making relevant comparisons. You successfully identified the overall trends and highlighted the most significant changes, such as the growth in textiles and the decline in gems and jewellery. However, there is a factual error in the final paragraph: you stated that gems and jewellery 'went up to around $31 billion' despite previously noting it experienced a 'dip'. This inconsistency impacts the accuracy of the data reporting. To reach a higher band, ensure that all figures and trends are cross-referenced carefully to avoid contradicting your own analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group information by category. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'However', and 'In 2015' to guide the reader. While the progression is generally clear, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, the final paragraph is quite brief and contains a logical contradiction regarding the trend of gems and jewellery, which slightly disrupts the flow of information. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the structure is functional.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'depicts', 'alteration', 'substantial', and 'marginal'. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'germs' (likely a typo for 'gems') and 'after its minimal increase in 2016, its went up', which is grammatically awkward. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the occasional inaccuracy in collocation or spelling prevents a higher score. Focusing on precise terminology for data trends will help improve your lexical precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'The category of agricultural products undergone' (should be 'underwent') and 'its went up' (should be 'it went up'). Additionally, the phrase 'after its minimal increase in 2016, its went up' is a run-on sentence structure that lacks proper punctuation. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading of verb tenses and pronoun usage.
