Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of the chart and table. You successfully identified the overall trend and highlighted key data points, such as the growth in Petroleum Products and the decline in Gems and Jewellery. However, the report could be improved by providing a more comprehensive comparison between the categories. For instance, while you mentioned the lowest category, you could have contrasted the growth rates more explicitly to better highlight the 'main features' as requested. The data is generally accurate, though ensure that all figures are clearly linked to the correct categories to avoid any ambiguity for the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph detailing the data. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Meanwhile,' 'Overall,' and 'Compared to,' which help guide the reader. However, the transition between the overview and the specific data could be smoother. Additionally, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical at times. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the relationship between the chart and the table is integrated more fluidly throughout the analysis.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'statistical comparison,' 'consecutive years,' and 'substantial increase.' There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'dropped its export sales' (which is slightly unnatural; 'experienced a decline in export sales' would be better) and 'sale amount' (which should be 'sales volume' or 'export value'). The spelling of 'Agircultural' is a minor error. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to data reporting and ensure consistent accuracy in spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While most sentences are clear, there are some grammatical slips, such as the comma splice in the final sentence: '...Gems and Jewellery, it fell about 5.18 percent.' This should be two separate sentences or joined with a semicolon. Additionally, the phrase 'Compared to 2015 in 2016' is slightly awkward; a better structure would be 'When comparing 2016 to 2015.' Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the control of grammar is generally sufficient for a band 6.5.
