Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of both the chart and the table. You successfully highlighted the highest export values and the most significant percentage changes. However, the overview is slightly mechanical and could be more integrated. While you mention the petroleum products and textiles, you could improve by grouping the data more effectively to show comparisons rather than listing categories individually. The data points are generally accurate, but ensure that you always include the units (e.g., billions of dollars) consistently to avoid ambiguity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical. Phrases like 'On the other hand' and 'In addition' are used frequently, which can make the flow feel a bit stiff. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the bar chart data and the table data could be smoother. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas feels more natural rather than just a list of observations.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information, such as 'illustrates', 'demonstrates', and 'decreased'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'ratio differ' instead of 'percentage change' and 'rise up' instead of 'increased'. The repetition of 'export's value' is noticeable throughout the text. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for data reporting and avoid repeating the same phrases. Expanding your vocabulary to include synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the bar chart' vs 'in bar chart') and possessive apostrophes ('export's value' should be 'export value'). Subject-verb agreement is occasionally inconsistent, such as 'textiles ratio rise up'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic articles and pluralization would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
