Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, including the bar chart and the table. You successfully identified the main features, such as Petroleum being the highest earner and Gems and jewellery being the only category to decrease. However, the analysis is somewhat repetitive, as you describe the data in the body paragraphs and then repeat the percentage changes in the final paragraph. To improve, integrate the percentage data directly into your comparative analysis of the categories rather than listing them separately at the end. This would create a more cohesive and analytical summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'Similarly' to link ideas. However, the transition between the second and third body paragraphs is slightly mechanical. The final paragraph feels like an add-on rather than a natural conclusion to the analysis. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a distinct focus—rather than repeating information—would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'export earnings,' 'category,' and 'percentage change.' There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'increased almost nil' (should be 'showed negligible growth') and 'the value of Textiles got the highest increased' (should be 'experienced the highest increase'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. Try to vary your verbs and avoid repeating 'earning' or 'increase' multiple times.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'The table show' (subject-verb agreement), 'thar Petroleum' (typo), 'value of Gems and jewellery was decreased' (incorrect passive voice), and 'Followed be Engineered good' (spelling and pluralization). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your verb tenses remain consistent throughout the report.
