Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the chart and table, identifying the highest and lowest categories and noting the general trends. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, the description of the bar graph is imprecise, using vague phrases like 'more then it' instead of referencing the specific data points provided in the chart. While the overall trend is identified, the comparison between the two years could be more detailed. The inclusion of the table data is accurate, but the summary lacks a clear, cohesive synthesis of the two data sources, which is necessary for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Turning to the bar graph', 'Moreover', and 'moving further', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal structure of the third paragraph is a bit cluttered, making it difficult to follow the comparison between the categories. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be improved to ensure a more natural reading experience.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'witness with' instead of 'witnessed' or 'witnessed a', and 'beard a loss' (a spelling error for 'bore'). Phrases like 'uplifted in every sector' are not standard collocations in this context. While the student successfully uses terms like 'percentage modification' and 'stable downward trend', the overall lexical control is limited, and some errors in word choice occasionally distract the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('highest foreign exported products comes out to be'), incorrect preposition usage, and confusion between 'then' and 'than'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. More attention to basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips is recommended.
