Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of both the chart and the table. You successfully identified the highest and lowest categories and made relevant comparisons. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, listing figures rather than synthesizing the data into a more cohesive narrative. For instance, while you mention the percentage changes, the connection between the absolute values in the bar chart and the percentage changes in the table could be more explicitly linked to show a deeper understanding of the trends. Overall, the response is accurate and fulfills the requirements of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the description of the bar chart from the table data. Cohesive devices such as 'while', 'whereas', and 'lastly' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions are a bit repetitive or mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the final paragraph feels like a list of statistics rather than a cohesive summary of the table's data. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'infographic', 'category', and 'period'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'earnt the least' (earned the least) and 'mostly increased good' (the category that increased the most). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated reporting verbs and nouns related to data analysis, such as 'fluctuated', 'marginal', or 'significant growth'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the mostly increased good') and verb forms ('the change in crude was increased'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and capitalization issues, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
