IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The chart given illustrates the data about the exports of a country in different categories in the year 2015 and 2016 whereas the table illustrates the amount of change in value percentage in every category of exports in the same years.
Overall , the the maximum earning was made from petroleum products while the least income was made in the textiles. However, except gems and the jewellery,the value percentage of every product had increased.
The value of of petroleum products were high and they successfully made maximum earning in both 2015 and 2016 which was nearly 61 billion dollar and 63 billion dollar. Followed by the same trend , engineered goods made approximately 56 billion dollar of income in 2015 while it increased in 2016 to about 62 billion dollars. However, earning made by gems and jewellery was the only that reprersented depletion ,because the income by it was nearly 44 billion dollar in 2015 while it reduced to about 41 billion dollar in 2016.
The contribution made to the country's economy by agriculture in 2015 was nearly 31 billion dollar and about 32 billion dollar in 2016 which represents only a slight difference.
Additionally , income made by textiles was comapratively low which was about 25 billion dollar in 2015 and 32 billion dollar in 2016. To add to that , the value of petroleum products went up by 3% and the engineered goods rose by 8.5%. Following the same trend , Agriculture products and textiles represented a increment of 0.81% and 15.24%. However, the value went down only in gems and jewellery by 5.18%.
