The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The chart illustrates the proportions of revenue earned by a country by exporting goods along five different categories during the years 2015 and 2016. While the table compares the variation of export value of the five category of exports during the two years.

Overall the petroleum products remained the largest export of the country leading engineered goods by a small margin. While Textile goods contributed the least. Nevertheless each category showed growth to some extent during the two years with the greatest growth in export value was observed by Textile products while Agricultural products export worth increased by the least margin among all other categories.

Both years petroleum products lead all categories with more than 60 billion USD worth of goods exported each year. While engineering goods followed by a small margin earning a little less than 60 billion USD and a little more than 60 billion USD first and second year respectively. Following the top two Gems and jewellwery, Agricultural and the Textile products earned the country about 40 billion USD, 30 Billion USD and 20 Billion USD respectively each year.

All categories observed an increase in export value with Textile products leading the subject with a huge margin and observed an increase of 15%. followed by engineering products which observed an increase of 8%. Then followed by gems and jewellery and petroleum each showing growth of 5% and 3% respectively. While agricultural products increased by the least margin of 0.8%
