Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the task by discussing the export earnings of various categories in 2015 and 2016, and mentions figures such as 'about 3%' for petroleum products and '15.24%' for textiles. However, a significant portion of the introduction is wasted on a lengthy, irrelevant essay about the general concept of imports and exports rather than focusing directly on the prompt. Furthermore, the response lacks a clear overall trend summary or overview, which is a core requirement of Academic Task 1. Data points are listed rather than synthesized effectively, leading to a partial fulfillment of the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response suffers from poor paragraphing and structural organization. The text begins with several informal, rambling sentences that lack proper capitalization and punctuation (e.g., 'initially starting from the point about the import and export... SO it is the basic...'). Cohesive devices are either misused or absent, and referencing is weak. Although there is a basic chronological list of data points later in the text, the overall arrangement lacks a logical progression from an overview into detailed body paragraphs, making the flow disjointed and difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, relying on terms like 'things', 'high amount', and 'values change'. There are occasional attempts at less common vocabulary such as 'prosperity', 'economy', and 'estimated value', but these are often used inaccurately or awkwardly (e.g., 'the petroleum values changes by the increase in about 3%'). Word choice errors and spelling slips (e.g., 'Jewelery', 'Textileshas') are noticeable throughout the text, though they do not completely obscure the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. There are fundamental punctuation and capitalization errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters or sudden ungrammatical capitalization like 'SO' and 'THE VALUES CHANGE'. The student relies heavily on simple sentences and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty (e.g., 'the engineered goods have the increase of about 8.55 average which is an estimated value'). Subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'the petroleum values changes') and missing prepositions occur frequently, severely limiting the range of accurate structures.
