Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to summarise the chart and table, mentioning categories such as petroleum products, engineered goods, gems and jewellery, agricultural products, and textiles. However, the response falls significantly short of the required 150-word minimum, containing only 135 words. Furthermore, the selection of data is somewhat erratic, focusing heavily on percentage changes while omitting key baseline figures from the chart, and includes irrelevant personal commentary (e.g., 'Although these products are important in any country's development'). The overview provided in the conclusion is very weak and superficial ('mix ratio of products'). Because the length requirement is not met and the data is only partially and loosely reported, the response falls into Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text lacks proper paragraphing, being compressed into a single messy body block and an incomplete concluding sentence. There is an attempt at logical progression using sequencing words like 'Firstly', 'Another product', and 'Additionaly', but the overall structure is faulty. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inaccurate (e.g., 'Additionaly, we see a less amount...'), and referencing between the chart data and table data is confusingly intertwined. Paragraphing is not used sufficiently or appropriately, which heavily detracts from the flow. These features align closely with a Band 5 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable limitations in range and precision (e.g., 'bit highr', 'less amount', 'mix ratio'). There are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'comparision', 'Additionaly', and 'highr'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the general topic of export categories, the frequent errors and lack of sophisticated phrasing prevent the score from reaching Band 6. Some collocations are also unnatural, such as 'higher percentage of 5.18% in 2016' when referring to a negative percentage change shown in the table.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, such as missing capitalization ('in conclusion'), incorrect verb forms or tense inconsistencies (e.g., 'These products were showing the mix ratio'), and awkward phrasing ('that are higher than anything else'). Punctuation is also neglected at the start of sentences. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 5 level of grammatical control.
