The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The given column graph illustrates value of a country's export in various product categories for two different year i.e 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change that occurred between those two years.
Overall, Petroluem products generated the highest export earnings in both the year while textile is the least exported product in 2015 while for 2016 there is a tie between Agricultural products and textiles. Other categories like Engineered goods and gems and jewellery fall between these two extremes.
The Petroluem product saw a increase of 3%, rising from $60 billion in 2015 to $62 billion in 2016. Similarly, engineered goods experience growth of 8.5%, increasing from around $55 billion to $60billion.
In contrast, earnings from gems and jewellery declined slightly, from approximately $42 billion to $40 billion, the table indicating a 5.18% change. Agricultural products experienced a marginal increase of 0.81%, reaching around $31 billion in 2016. Finally, textiles recorded the highest percentage change growing from $25 billion in 201 to $32 billion in 2016.
