Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the bar chart and the table, making comparisons between categories such as petroleum, engineered goods, and textiles. However, the student misinterprets the subject matter significantly in the introduction, referring to 'expenditure of single nations's transport business in multiple castes' instead of export earnings by product category. While the main trends and specific data points (such as the 15.24% increase for textiles and values around 60 billion for petroleum in 2015) are generally identified, the misinterpretation of the underlying data and confusing phrasings prevent a higher score. Overall, it addresses the prompt but lacks precision in reporting.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response is organized into four paragraphs, attempting to follow a logical structure from an introduction to body paragraphs detailing the chart and table information. However, coherence is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, sentence fragments, and unclear referencing (e.g., 'Meanwhile, Despite, gems and jwellery, all categories rose...'). Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, and paragraphing, while visually present, does not effectively guide the reader through a well-sequenced comparison of the data. Progression within paragraphs is often blocked by grammatical and lexical confusion, resulting in a score in the lower band range.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very limited and frequently inaccurate. The student uses incorrect terms throughout the text, such as 'castes' instead of categories, 'trasported' instead of transported, 'dollers' instead of dollars, and 'pluge' instead of plunge. While there are some attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'exportation', 'surge', and 'percentage values', frequent word choice and spelling errors severely impede communication and demonstrate a weak command of lexical features appropriate for an Academic task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, and simple sentences are frequently flawed. There are constant errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and prepositional phrases (e.g., 'It is clearly demonstrate that', '60 billions dollers earned by', 'recived approximatley 33 billions dollers which were half from previouse goods'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are almost always grammatically incorrect and lead to confusion. Errors are pervasive throughout the text and frequently strain the reader.
