Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The candidate attempts to cover all parts of the task by reporting information from both the bar chart and the table. An overview is provided, noting that petroleum products generated the highest revenue while textiles generated the lowest, and that textiles experienced the highest percentage change. However, there are significant factual inaccuracies in reading the data from the bar chart. For instance, the student states that 'petroleum products has produce income from export earning some higher than 120 billion dollars' and that engineered goods generated 'a listtle lower than the 120 billion dollars,' whereas the maximum value on the chart is 70 billion dollars and petroleum products actually earned 61 billion in 2015. These gross misinterpretations of the visual data severely undermine the accuracy of the report, limiting the score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is structured into distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs for the chart and the table. However, progression is frequently hindered by clumsy linking and repetitive referencing structures ('In bar chart from export earning...', 'In table percentage change...'). Cohesive devices are used mechanically, and referencing is sometimes confusing or incomplete. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion lacks flexibility and natural flow, leading to a choppy reading experience.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple terms such as 'produce income', 'revenue', and 'change'. There are notable lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'comapred', 'generate' instead of 'generated', 'listtle', and 'aproximately'. Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited success and inaccurate collocation, which restricts the lexical range to a minimally adequate level for completing the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are multiple grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('textile has generate'), tense inconsistencies ('petroleum products has produce'), and missing prepositions or articles. Punctuation errors are also apparent. These frequent mistakes cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher grammatical score.
