The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The chart illustartes the revenue generated in billions by a country through exports in numerous classification during 2015 and 2016. Below the bar chart there is a table that shows the proportion of varience in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
Major increase was observed in Textiles export vlaue. Engineered goods also saw substantial increase. Petroleum product increased modestly. Agricultural products saw the least expansion in value. Gems and jewellery was the only classification that dwindled in value.
Overall petrolium products dominated the chart as total export value reached approximately 63 billion dollars. Engineered goods were second in rank as they generated approximately 62 billion dollars in 2016 as compared to around 57 billion dollars back in 2015. Gems and jewellery approximately approched 43 billion dollars. Agricultural products revenue virtually unchanged at around 31 billion dollars. Gems and jewellery dwindled in exports to around 40 billion dollars in 2016 from around 44 billion dollars back in 2015.
Textile sector showed 15.24% expansion in 2016 as compared to 2015. Engineered goods also expanded 8.5% in export value. Petroleum products and agricultural products saw a modest increase in their value of 3% and 0.81% respectively. Among all the classification, value change of gems and jewellery dwindled by 5.18% in 2016 as compared to value back in 2015.
