The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The bar chart illustrates the value of a particular country's exports in different categories in 2015 and 2016. The table compares the percentage change in each export category in 2016 compared with 2015.
Overall, the vast majority of figures experienced a growth, but the figure for gems and jewellery saw a minor decrease. Petroleum products and engineered goods recorded the highest value, whereas textiles and agricultural products had the lowest figure.
In terms of the highest-earning sectors, petroleum products topped the list, bringing in just over 60 billion dollars in 2015, which increased to 3%., reaching nearly 65 billion dollars. Engineered goods followed a similar upward trend, showing a more noticable growth from around 50 billion dollars to just over $60 billion, the growth is accounting for 8,5%.
Regarding the lower categories, Gems and jewellery had earnings dipping slightly from 42 billion dollars to around 41 billion dollars, the figure declined for 5,18%. Agricultural products showed a minor increase, creeping up from roughly $31 billion to $32 billion, the value increased by 0,81%. Regarding textiles, they recorded the most significant growth jumping from around 25 billion dollars to just over 30 billion dollars. The upward trend for this figure is accounted for 15.24%.
