The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The bar chart compares the value of a specific county's export earnings in five different categories including pertroleum products, engineered goods, gems and jewellery, agricultural products, and textiles, while the table illustrates the percentge change in values from 2015 to 2016. Units are measured in billions.
Overall, petroleum products dominated across all categories in both years, while gems and jewellery experienced slight decline.
Petroleum products started with around 60 billion in 2015 and slightly increased by 3% in 2016 around 62 billion, making it the largest category. Followed by engineered goods, it had approximately 57 billion in 2015 and about 61 billion in 2016 grew steadily by 8.5%. However, gems and jewellery declined moderately by 5.18%, began with around 42 billion in 2015 and reached about 40 billion by 2016.
Agricultural products had about 30 billion in 2015 and increased marginally by 0.81% around 31 billion in 2016. Textiles roughly started with 27 billion from 2015 and experienced sharp rise by 15.24% about 31 billion in 2016.
