Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the main features of the chart and table, noting values and percentage changes such as petroleum products increasing by 3% and textiles by 15.24%. However, the student includes copied text from the prompt instructions at the beginning of the response. Furthermore, the selection of data is somewhat disjointed and repetitive, with several points restated awkwardly (e.g., repeating the drop in gems and jewellery). The overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the overall trends, leading to a band score in the lower range.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The text lacks proper paragraphing, presented as a single block of text following the copied prompt instructions. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or incorrectly, such as 'As same as' and 'Consequently' where they do not logically fit the context. The logical progression is hindered by repetitive statements and abrupt transitions between ideas, making the overall flow difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive. The student attempts some topic-specific terms like 'export values', 'petroleum products', and 'textiles industry', but struggles with accurate word formation and collocation, writing phrases like 'led to drop in value', 'grows up slightly', and 'equivalant'. Spelling errors such as 'peterolum' also occur. The range is minimally adequate for the task but lacks precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences contain noticeable errors in tense, voice, and agreement, such as 'textiles industry have major rise', 'value increase to only', and 'their value led to increased'. Frequent grammatical errors cause strain and confusion for the reader, indicating poor control over basic and complex sentence forms alike.
