Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the task by discussing categories such as petroleum products and textiles, and mentions the 15.24% figure for textiles. However, the overall coverage is very weak and superficial. The student fails to provide a clear, structured overview of the main trends shown in the charts, and much of the commentary is vague or repetitive. Furthermore, several data points are inaccurately referenced or generalized (e.g., confusing engineered goods with food), and the overall format lacks the traditional structure of an Academic Task 1 report. This level of response corresponds to Band 4.0, as it addresses the prompt only minimally and tangentially with limited data selection.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The text suffers from severe organizational and cohesive flaws. There is no clear paragraphing; the entire response is presented as a single dense block of text. Cohesive devices are either missing, misused, or overly simplistic, such as starting sentences with conversational filler ('I'd like to talk about to this chat') or awkward transitions ('Furthermore, is that...'). The progression of ideas is chaotic, jumping between the chart data and personal commentary without a logical flow. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. This aligns with Band 4.0 descriptors for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic, highly repetitive, and often unnatural. The student relies heavily on simple words and phrases like 'big things', 'country export', and 'specific time period'. There are numerous word choice and collocation errors, such as 'engineered food' instead of 'engineered goods', 'tinor' instead of 'tenure/period', and 'crucialy enhance'. Spelling errors are also present ('petrolem', 'pecentage', 'increse'). The range of vocabulary is severely limited and inadequate for a standard academic response, which places this firmly at Band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the text. The response contains a wide array of basic and complex sentence attempts, nearly all of which contain severe structural and punctuation errors. Examples include 'in this chart shows that one country export value', 'In this table are shown, that the some particular percentage...', and 'so, all of conclusion is that ,the export of the country is mainly increse...'. Subject-verb agreement is frequently violated, verb tenses are confused, and run-on sentences are common. These persistent errors frequently distort meaning and impede communication, reflecting Band 4.0 performance.
