Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the student attempts to summarise the visual data, the reporting of figures is frequently imprecise or inaccurate, such as stating that petroleum products earned 60 billion dollars in 2015 when the chart shows 61 billion. Additionally, the overview is limited and poorly expressed, failing to clearly capture the overall trends across all five categories. Some key features, such as the highest and lowest export earners, are mentioned, but the ideas remain restricted and under-developed due to a lack of precise detail and logical integration between the bar graph and the table.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. The essay is divided into short paragraphs, but the logical links between sentences and paragraphs are weak and mechanical. Cohesive devices are used inadequately or inaccurately, as seen in abrupt transitions like 'But the table provide' and 'However the textile export was sudden increased.tham petroleum products'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow the flow of information. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to ensure ideas flow smoothly and use cohesive devices more accurately and naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student relies heavily on basic terms and makes noticeable word-form, spelling, and word-choice errors, such as 'export earning' instead of 'export earnings', 'jems' instead of 'gems', and 'sudden increased' instead of 'suddenly increased'. These lexical inadequacies and errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted range of vocabulary. To improve, the writer should practice accurate word forms, parts of speech, and spelling while expanding their range of topic-specific vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that are faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The bar graph illustrate', 'the table provide'), missing articles, and incorrect prepositions ('earned 60 billions dollar', 'in both year'). These frequent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. Incorporating a wider mix of error-free complex structures and improving basic grammatical accuracy will be essential for progression.
