Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response attempts to address the task by mentioning categories such as petroleum products and engineered goods, and includes some specific figures like 8.5 percent and 15.24 percent. However, the information is presented in a very confused and fragmented way, leading to a partial and inaccurate understanding of the visual data. For example, the student misinterprets the units and data trends, stating that petroleum products were 'roundabout 60 percent' when the chart shows 61 billion dollars, and claims that agricultural products were 'firstly highest' which contradicts the chart. Ideas are underdeveloped, and key features are not clearly selected or reported, resulting in a minimal response to the visual data provided.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The text is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction, body sections, and a concluding remark, showing some attempt at overall structure. However, there is no clear progression of ideas throughout the response, and the connection between sentences is frequently disrupted by confusing statements. Cohesive devices are either missing or used inaccurately, such as the abrupt transitions and misused phrases like 'On the others hand'. Referencing is unclear, and ideas jump between categories without a logical flow, making the overall arrangement difficult for the reader to follow smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily relies on words directly lifted from the prompt or task image, such as 'petroleum products', 'engineered goods', and 'agricultural products'. There are numerous severe lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'differnet', 'expoting', 'categrios', 'Pertoleum', 'jewllery', 'beacuse', and 'singnificant'. These frequent errors in word form, choice, and spelling cause noticeable strain for the reader and reflect a very limited control over lexical resources.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response features a very limited range of sentence structures, relying on simple sentences or faulty attempts at complex forms that often lack essential verbs or connectors, as seen in 'The bar chart illustrate differnet categories...' and 'value change is different percentages. because every categrios modify.' Grammatical errors are frequent throughout the text, including severe subject-verb agreement issues, missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and poor punctuation. These persistent errors frequently distort the meaning and cause considerable difficulty for the reader in understanding the intended statements.
