Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task only partially and contains notable inaccuracies in the data reported. While the student attempts to present an overview and cover most categories, some figures are misread or incorrectly stated compared to the visual data. For instance, engineered goods are stated to be nearly 66 billion in 2015 when the graph shows approximately 57 billion, and agricultural products are reported as 30 billion with a 0.18 percent change instead of 31 billion and 0.81 percent. The overview is also very limited, noting only that textiles was lowest in 2015 and that most products increased except gems and jewellery. Ideas remain limited and under-developed, preventing the response from reaching a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief overall summary, but there is no clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences often feel disjointed rather than logically sequenced. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes inaccurate, such as using 'Interestingly' and 'Whereas' awkwardly or relying on repetitive transitional phrases like 'In 2015' and 'On the other hand'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where 'jelle' is left incomplete. The progression stalls due to these mechanical and inadequate cohesive links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word forms throughout the text, such as 'categoris' instead of categories, 'jewelley' instead of jewellery, 'negiligable' instead of negligible, and 'execpt' instead of except. The student attempts some less common vocabulary related to data reporting, but the frequent inaccuracies in spelling and collocation cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score to this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences and basic past tense forms. Attempts at complex sentences often result in faulty grammar and awkward phrasing, such as 'rendered table the ratio change' and 'there in change in 2016 it just went up 0.18 percent which negiligable'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, articles, and pluralization, such as 'the textiles has lowest', 'petroleum product was the maximum earning', and 'product were increased their earning'. These errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader.
