Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement, falling significantly short of the 150-word limit at only 101 words (with 11 words copied from the prompt). The content responds to the task only minimally. While the student attempts to report some data from the charts, such as mentioning petroleum products and engineered goods, the overview is extremely weak and inaccurate, stating incorrectly that textiles exports show the lowest export compared to other exports. Key features are inadequately covered, and data points are misread or vague, such as claiming agricultural products show 'not changes' when the chart clearly indicates both values and a percentage increase.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
Information and ideas are not arranged coherently. The response is divided into brief, disconnected paragraphs that lack a clear logical progression. Cohesive devices are used minimally or inaccurately, such as awkward transitional phrases like 'To commence with' and 'On the other hand', which do not properly structure the comparisons between categories. Referencing is unclear, and the overall structural flow breaks down frequently, making it difficult for the reader to follow a cohesive line of argument across the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, showing a limited range that strains communication at times. There are several noticeable word-choice, spelling, and form errors throughout the text, such as 'prproportion' instead of proportion, 'apporox' for approximately, 'growth' instead of grow, and 'jwellery' for jewellery. These lexical inadequacies and spelling mistakes reflect a restricted vocabulary control that is minimally adequate for the task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple and severely flawed sentence structures. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense usage, and agreement, such as 'The chart illustrate', 'textiles exports are shows', and 'agricultural products exports can easily seen'. Punctuation and missing articles are also problematic, creating frequent grammatical errors that obscure the intended meaning and cause difficulty for the reader.
