Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response attempts to address all parts of the task by outlining the main features of both the bar chart and the table, but the execution is limited and contains inaccurate data reporting. For instance, the student states that petroleum products in 2015 stood at 60 billion and were lower than 2016 by around 2 billion, whereas the chart shows 61 billion for 2015 and 63 billion for 2016. Furthermore, the overview is overly simplistic and includes vague statements like agricultural products showed a contrasting trend in both years respectively, which is not clearly supported by the data. While some key categories and percentages are mentioned, the lack of precision in reading the charts and the under-development of comparisons restrict the response to a partial coverage of the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic logical arrangement in the text, with paragraphs designated for the introduction, overview, and body details. However, the progression of ideas lacks clarity. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately, such as In comparison, table provides the data or Another noticable thing was that agricultural products showed contrasting trend in both year respectively. Reference words are not always clear, and the transitional phrases between sentences often feel forced or disjointed. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structuring within paragraphs hinders smooth reading and clear progression throughout the response.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common terms and data-related vocabulary such as percentage change, highest figure, and declined, but these attempts are frequently accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation, for example, gemes and jewellery were rose marginally or all figures were went up. Spelling and word formation mistakes, such as noticable instead of noticeable, also occur. These lexical inaccuracies and the restricted range of vocabulary cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentence forms alongside faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense usage, and passive/active constructions, such as all figures were went up, petroleum products were increased, and gemes and jewellery were rose. Subject-verb agreement issues are also present, as seen in the figure for textiles were lowest. Punctuation and articles are mishandled throughout the text, and these frequent grammatical errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and disrupt the clarity of the message.
