Student answer (Band 6.0)
The bar chart compares the earnings received through exports of different types of goods in the years 2015 and 2016.
It is evident that Petroleum products generate more revenue in both the years, while the Textiles industry gives least amount of earning.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both years and report the main ranking clearly: petroleum is highest, while textiles is lowest in 2015, and you identify textiles as the fastest-growing category. Most figures and percentage changes match the chart. Your overview is present, but it could capture the overall pattern more fully—for example, that most categories rose, whereas gems and jewellery was the only one to fall. Some details are less precise: petroleum is about $63 billion in 2016, not $62 billion, and engineered goods are about $62 billion, rather than $61 billion. The agricultural comparison and the textiles increase are relevant, though the overview and comparisons could be developed more consistently to make the key features stand out.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a brief overview, and separate paragraphs for 2015 and 2016. This makes the year-by-year information easy to follow, and phrases such as “In 2016” signal the shift effectively. However, the organisation is mainly a sequence of category details rather than a comparison-led account. Linking is sometimes mechanical, with repeated openings such as “The … industry” and repeated use of “and.” Some references are also unclear, as in “was producing same amount of earning which Agriculture industry generates,” where the comparison is understandable but awkwardly connected. Grouping the categories by rising versus falling, or by larger versus smaller earnings, would create smoother progression and more purposeful comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing export data, including “revenue,” “increase,” “decrease,” and “accounted at,” and the meaning is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “least amount of earning,” “second most sold out products,” and “adding … in the economy.” There are also spelling errors in “Petroluem” and “industury,” and inconsistent forms such as “Agriculture” when referring to the sector. These slips limit the precision and naturalness of the description. Aim for standard chart language and accurate collocations, such as “generated,” “export earnings,” and “rose to,” while checking spelling and avoiding repeated use of “industry.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “which,” and the main comparisons remain understandable. However, some errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and possessives. For example, “Petroluem industry produce” should use a past-tense verb, while “the engineered goods saw an increase … in it’s earning stood” combines structures incorrectly. “The Agriculture industry almost remain the same” also needs a past-tense form, and “the only category … was the Gems and Jewellery” has an awkward article and agreement pattern. Possessive “its” is repeatedly written as “it’s.” More consistent past-tense reporting and simpler, accurately controlled sentence patterns would improve clarity.
