Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several relevant changes, including the rises in petroleum products, engineered goods and textiles, and the fall in gems and jewellery. However, the response only minimally summarises the visual: it gives percentage changes but omits the export values and does not provide a clear overview of the main comparisons, such as petroleum products being the highest-valued category or textiles showing the strongest growth. The agricultural increase is reported as 0.18%, whereas the table gives 0.81%. The claim that the gems decline caused a loss in revenue is not established by the chart. The final summary is incomplete, and the response is 44 words below the required minimum. Include an accurate overview and support it with key figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The bullet points make the individual category changes easy to locate, and the labels “summary” and “By comparing both charts” show an attempt to organise the response. However, the ideas do not develop into a coherent report: the opening is incomplete, the summary repeats the decline in gems and jewellery, and the sentence beginning “By comparing both charts” is left unfinished. The bullets also present facts without linking them into meaningful comparisons. Use a brief introduction, a clear overview, and one or two organised detail paragraphs. Connect related trends—for example, the largest category and the fastest-growing category—so the reader can follow a logical progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant terms, including “exportation,” “increased,” “decreased,” and “earnings,” and the category names generally make your meaning recognisable. However, the vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with “exportation” and “increased” used repeatedly. Several spelling errors, such as “engeenied,” “jwellery,” and “revinew,” make the report less clear and reduce precision. Some phrasing is also unnatural, including “maximum increaseing.” Build a more accurate range of chart language and check spelling carefully. For example, use “rose by” or “recorded growth” for increases, and “declined” for a fall; these choices will make comparisons more concise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response relies mainly on short, simple statements, so it shows little variety in sentence structure. There are attempts to form longer sentences, but the final sentence, “By comparing both charts we can see that exporting from 2015 to 2016,” is incomplete and has no clear main point. The opening fragment, “main features of exporting earrings … are as given below,” is also not a complete, well-formed introduction. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly at the start of sentences and around the bullet points. Practise complete subject–verb sentences and combine related information with accurate clauses, such as stating that one category rose while another fell.
