Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address the task with a clear overview: petroleum products earned the most in both years, while textiles showed the largest percentage rise. You also report all five categories and include the table’s percentage changes, so the main features are covered and supported with figures. However, a few chart values are inaccurate: engineered goods rose from 57 to 62 billion, not 63, and textiles rose from 26 to about 31.5 billion, rather than 32. Agricultural products were about 31.5 billion in 2016, not 32. These are small discrepancies, but accurate reporting matters. To strengthen the response further, make the overview more comparative by noting that gems and jewellery was the only category to decline.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response is organised in a clear sequence: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph describing export values, and a final paragraph covering percentage changes. This gives the reader a logical progression, and signposts such as “Looking first” and “Turning to” help distinguish the two sets of information. The comparisons within the categories are generally easy to follow. Some linking is slightly repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “the figure” and “then it increased,” and the transition between individual categories can feel list-like. You could improve flow by grouping the categories that rose together and contrasting them with gems and jewellery, which declined. Check also that sentence openings are consistently capitalised.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-relevant vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “accounted for,” “represented,” “stood at,” and “percentage change.” These expressions allow you to describe values and trends clearly, although some wording is repetitive or imprecise. For example, “largest figures” is less natural than “highest earnings,” and “engineered good” does not accurately name the category, which is “engineered goods.” There are also spelling errors such as “categoties,” “fot,” “aoounted,” and “bt.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy and polish. Aim to use precise category labels and vary trend language without forcing less natural phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and time comparisons such as “in 2015 and 2016.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur. The introduction needs an article in “while the table compares,” and “after slightly decreased it fell” has an incorrect verb pattern; write “after decreasing slightly, it fell.” Several sentences begin with lowercase words after full stops, for example “the figure” and “gems and jewellery,” and punctuation around these sentences needs attention. There are also inconsistent singular and plural forms in phrases such as “earning from textiles.” More consistent sentence boundaries, articles, and verb forms would improve control.
