Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all five export categories and provide an overview identifying petroleum as the leading earner and textiles as the lowest in 2015. You also report the main direction of change for each category, including the decline in gems and jewellery. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: textiles was not the lowest in both years, since its 2016 value of about $31.5 billion matched agricultural products and exceeded gems and jewellery. Several figures are also slightly overstated, such as petroleum at $62 billion in 2015 and $64 billion in 2016, rather than approximately $61 billion and $63 billion. The response is relevant, but comparisons and the overall picture need more precise development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, overview and two body paragraphs. Grouping petroleum, engineered goods and gems together, then discussing agriculture and textiles, gives the information a generally sensible order. Some linking expressions, such as “First of all,” “Similarly” and “Additionally,” help signal progression. However, the organisation is somewhat mechanical, and the overview does not clearly prepare the reader for the detailed comparisons. Phrases such as “in first year” and “in next year” make time references less smooth, while the final sentence’s “At the last” is an awkward transition. Use clearer comparisons between categories and more natural referencing to strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “export earning,” “categories,” “decrease” and “percentage,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. “This chat” is not an appropriate description of the visual, and “gems and jewellery normally export eaning” does not clearly express its position among the categories. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “eaning,” “inrease” and “engineered” where the chart category is “engineered goods.” Aim for precise chart language and vary repeated phrases such as “gained” and “obtained”; this would make the report clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can usually follow the intended comparisons. However, control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent. For example, “petroleum products export earning was 62$ billions … and inrease 3%” lacks a clear grammatical construction, while “textiles was lowest” has a subject–verb agreement error. The phrase “engineered products get earning in first year is” also combines verb forms in a way that obscures the meaning. Articles, prepositions and punctuation are often missing or awkward, as in “in next year” and “Overall, petroleum.” Build shorter, accurate sentences first, then add complex clauses once the basic subject–verb structure is secure.
