Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given chart bar illustrates the export earnings of a country from 2015 to 2016 of various elements, while the table represents the change in proportion of each item's export data from 2015 to 2016.

Overall, the bar chart shows in 2015, earnings of almost all categories are slightly less compare to earnings in 2016. Petroleum products and Engineering goods earnins are almost similar. Gems and Jewellery earnings are slightly higher in 2015 compare to 2016. On constrast, Agricultural products earn almost same. Textiles earning has a huge difference in both years.

The table represents that the Petroleum products increases by 3%. Engineering goods saw a growth rate of about 8.5% in one year. Moreover, Gems and jewellary decreases by 5.18% from 2015 to 2016. Agricultural products went up with slight difference of 0.81%. Textiles earnings surged by 15.24% with the highest growth rate among all items in chart.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both the chart and the table, and your overview identifies the main contrasts: petroleum and engineered goods are the highest earners, gems decline, and textiles show the strongest growth. The reported percentage changes are accurate, and the comparison that agricultural earnings were almost unchanged is supported by the figures. However, the overview is somewhat unclear when it says petroleum and engineered goods are “almost similar,” without specifying that their values rose, and it does not give actual export values to substantiate the comparisons. The chart’s key pattern—that petroleum remained highest while textiles rose from the lowest position to roughly the same level as agriculture—could be developed more clearly. The response is also one word below the required minimum, so ensure you meet the stated length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview of the chart, and a paragraph describing the table. This makes the two visual sources easy to distinguish, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “On contrast” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the chart paragraph moves through categories without a particularly clear comparison pattern, and the table paragraph largely lists changes one by one. Some connections are also imprecise: “On contrast” does not fit the near-stability of agricultural products, while “Moreover” adds another item without a meaningful relationship. Grouping the largest earners, the declining category, and the smaller or stable categories would create more purposeful progression and make cohesion feel less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “growth rate,” “surged,” and “highest growth rate,” which helps communicate the main trends. There are also attempts to vary how changes are described, rather than repeating one verb throughout. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “change in proportion” for a change in value and “earnings surged by 15.24%,” where the percentage describes the increase. Spelling errors in “Engineering,” “earnings,” “contrast,” and “jewellery” also reduce precision. Use standard chart language consistently—for example, “export value,” “rose by,” and “fell by”—and check spelling before submitting. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” in the introduction and a sentence beginning “Although” is not present; most ideas are nevertheless expressed in understandable clauses. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in comparisons and agreement. For example, “slightly less compare to earnings” needs a comparative form and a correct comparison structure, while “Textiles earning has” has a singular/plural agreement problem. The opening phrase “The given chart bar illustrates” also has an awkward grammatical construction, and “the Petroleum products increases” does not agree in number. These errors rarely obscure the intended meaning, but more consistent control of verb forms, articles, and comparative structures would make the response more accurate. Practise writing concise sentences such as “Earnings were slightly lower in 2015 than in 2016.”
