Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main overall pattern: petroleum, engineered goods and textiles rose, gems and jewellery fell, and agricultural exports changed very little. You also report several table percentages accurately, including textiles as the strongest increase and agriculture as the smallest. This covers the task well and shows some selection of key features. However, the chart’s values are not always reported precisely: petroleum is about $61 billion in 2015 and $63 billion in 2016, rather than rising to around $65 billion, while textiles rise from about $26 billion to $31.5 billion, not merely from just under to just over $30 billion. Gems and jewellery’s fall is mentioned in the overview but not supported with figures. More precise comparisons would make the summary more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs presenting chart details and percentage changes. This makes the information generally easy to follow. However, the progression within the body is somewhat mechanical: repeated links such as “In addition” and “Along with that” often connect items without showing a meaningful relationship. The final paragraph also repeats the ranking of percentage changes already stated in the overview, while the decline in gems and jewellery is not developed in the detail section. Grouping the main increases together and then contrasting them with the decline and near-stability would create a more purposeful progression. Use fewer, more precise linking expressions and clearer references between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “growth,” “decline,” “remained steady,” and “percentage change,” so the main trends are understandable. There is also some attempt to vary wording, for example “witnessed” and “generated.” However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “exportation” is less natural than “exports,” “accounted the greatest proportions” is not idiomatic, and “experienced a rose” uses the wrong form. Spelling errors such as “dollers,” “experieced,” and “engineerd” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language rather than forcing synonyms: for example, say that a category “recorded an increase” or “accounted for the largest share of the change.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including contrast with “However” and a comparison introduced by “compared to.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “textiles accounted greatest proportions” is missing “for,” and “Engineered good also experienced a rose” has problems with both the noun form and sentence construction. Articles and prepositions are also inconsistent, as in “accounted least proportions” and “in different categories during the year 2015 and 2016.” There are punctuation and spacing slips around brackets and full stops. Build reliable comparison patterns, such as “rose from X to Y” and “accounted for the smallest increase,” and check each sentence for complete, correctly formed clauses.
