Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important patterns, including the rise in petroleum and engineered goods, the fall in gems and jewellery, and textiles’ strong growth. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not clearly compare the highest and lowest export values, and some figures are misreported. For example, petroleum earnings rose from about $61 billion to $63 billion, not from “60%” to a 3% value; the 3% is the percentage change. Agricultural products increased by 0.81%, not 0.18%. The response also gives limited coverage of the actual values for most categories, so the main features are only partly summarised. Distinguish earnings in billions from percentage changes and include a concise overview of the overall ranking and notable movements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and signposts such as “Overall,” “Firstly” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression is not consistently clear: the overview mixes individual percentage changes without establishing the main overall picture, while the detail paragraphs move between categories without a clear comparison or grouping. Some linking expressions, including “After that” and “Nevertheless,” do not express the relationships between the data accurately. Organise the body by contrasting categories that rose with the one that fell, or by ranking export values, and use connectors only where they clarify the comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “exports,” “compared with,” “increased” and “declined,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “various changes of the value,” “grow at 60%,” “consumer a increased,” and “most effectively grow up sector.” Spelling errors such as “catagories,” “jwellery,” “Germs” and “industy” also reduce precision; “Germs” is particularly confusing when referring to gems. Choose standard terms for describing figures and trends, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make the comparisons easier to understand without relying on repeated forms of “grow.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including contrasts introduced by “whereas” and “however.” Nevertheless, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors often make the relationships between figures difficult to follow. Examples include “In 2015 the exports industry of petroleum products grow,” “it steadily grow upto 3% at reached 63%,” and “Gems and jwellery are declined.” These show problems with tense, verb forms and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also uneven, with unnecessary capitals after commas and missing spaces around full stops. Use past-tense verbs consistently for the 2015–2016 data, and build shorter, complete sentences before attempting more complex comparisons.
