Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the chart’s subject and report several relevant figures, including petroleum products at about $60 billion in 2015 and the percentage changes for most categories. However, the response does not give a clear overview of the main features, and some comparisons are inaccurate or confusing. Most importantly, you say gems and jewellery remained at $42 billion, whereas the chart shows a fall from about $43 billion to $41 billion; the final paragraph also repeats this incorrect claim. The overview should highlight that petroleum products were the highest-valued export in both years, while textiles had the largest percentage increase and gems and jewellery was the only category to decline. These omissions and the misreading leave the task only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a paragraph on 2015 values, and two paragraphs discussing changes. This gives the reader some organisation, and the categories are generally presented in a recognisable order. However, there is no distinct overview, and the progression is weakened by repetition: the final paragraph repeats the textiles increase and the claim about gems and jewellery without adding a clear new comparison. Linking phrases such as “In year, 2016” and “In 2015” do not consistently clarify how the information relates, while “as compare to this year” is difficult to follow. Group the main trends together and use clear comparisons to create a more coherent progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the subject, including “petroleum products,” “percentage,” “increased,” and “decreased.” Some wording also attempts to describe degree, as in “minorly increased” and “huge level.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the report less precise, including “liitle bit less,” “jems,” “text tile,” and “on almost 60 billion.” Phrases such as “increased almost 3% from previous year” also do not clearly distinguish a percentage change from a dollar value. Aim for accurate collocations such as “stood at,” “rose by,” and “recorded the largest increase,” and check spelling of category names.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the general topic using mostly simple sentences and make some attempts to combine information, for example, “petroleum products increased almost 3% from previous year, Engineered goods increased…” However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships unclear. The opening has subject–verb agreement errors (“The bar graph represent” and “The table show”), and several sentences omit articles or use them incorrectly (“In year, 2015”; “from previous year”). There are also problems with plural forms and sentence construction, such as “agriculture are on 30 billiion” and the long sentence beginning “In year, 2016.” Use a consistent past-tense reporting pattern and practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
