Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main high-earning categories and note that textiles had the strongest growth, while gems and jewellery declined. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear: the response says textiles “declined,” although their earnings rose from about $26 billion to $31.5 billion, and it claims all sectors increased except gems without clearly distinguishing the very small rise in agricultural products. The estimate of total earnings at “220-250 billion” is not a useful chart feature and is not supported by the displayed category values. The overview also focuses on general importance rather than clearly summarising the main changes. To strengthen the report, compare the leading categories and state the contrasting trends accurately, using selected figures from both years.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is an attempt to organise the response with an opening, an overview, details and a conclusion, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast” and “However” show awareness of progression. Nevertheless, the sequence of information is difficult to follow because several comparisons are vague or contradictory. For example, textiles are first said to have “created concern” and “declined,” then are described as having soared. The conclusion repeats the general prominence of petroleum and engineered goods without consolidating the main comparisons. Some connectors do not express the relationship between ideas clearly. Group the information into a concise overview followed by a paragraph comparing the figures and changes, and use references that make each comparison explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response attempts a range of task-related vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “revenue,” “declined,” “soared” and “potentiality.” However, inaccurate word choice and spelling frequently make the meaning unclear: “germs and jewellery” appears to mean “gems and jewellery,” while “reserving foreign currency” and “collecting them” are not natural descriptions of export earnings. There are also repeated spelling errors, including “througout,” “catrgories,” “doller” and “conclution.” Some expressions, such as “kept significate revenue” and “brakes the all records,” are difficult to interpret. Use precise, familiar chart language and check spelling; accurate terms such as “rose,” “fell,” “remained stable” and “accounted for” would communicate the data more reliably.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “Although” and a sentence beginning “However.” However, many sentences contain errors in structure, tense, agreement or articles, and these sometimes obscure the intended meaning. For example, “there are the export earnings” is an awkward construction, and “all of them are contributed” uses an incorrect verb form. “Textiles have created concern the subject of that” is not grammatically complete or clear, while “it declined compare to all catagories” has problems with verb form and comparison structure. Tense use also shifts between past and present when describing the two years. Practise clear past-tense reporting and build shorter, accurate comparison sentences before adding subordinate clauses.
