Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad pattern that four categories rose and gems and jewellery fell, and you note textiles’ strongest percentage increase and agriculture’s very small rise. However, several figures and comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: petroleum is about $61 billion in 2015 and $63 billion in 2016, while gems and jewellery falls from about $43 billion to $41 billion, not from $41 billion to $40 billion. The overview also says “the other two sectors also earned less,” although agriculture and textiles both increased. The response reports only some key data and does not clearly compare the categories’ overall values. A more complete overview and accurate selection of figures would make the main features clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about individual categories. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In 2015” signal the intended stages. However, progression is uneven: the final paragraph groups agriculture and textiles but does not clearly explain their increases, while “The other two sectors also earned less” conflicts with the data and disrupts the flow. Linking words such as “while” and “although” are sometimes used without a clear relationship between the ideas. Organise the details into clearer comparisons—for example, the highest-earning categories together and the lower-earning categories together—and use transitions that accurately show contrast or addition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “export earning,” “percentage,” “decline,” and “sector,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “show significant changing,” “grew downward,” and “agriculture progress very slow.” Spelling errors, including “Engineerd” and “billlion,” also reduce precision. Some phrases make the intended meaning difficult to follow, particularly “textiles show significant percentage.” Use standard expressions for describing data, such as “export earnings rose,” “recorded a decline,” and “the percentage increase was the largest.” Check spelling and choose precise nouns and verbs rather than repeating “show” and “earn.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few complex sentences, including “while the table shows…” and “Although textile sector also earn less…,” but these structures are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur in phrases such as “it export earning was” and “textile sector also earn less”; the sentence about gems, “while is grew downward,” is especially difficult to understand. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “2016 .while” and the lowercase “in 2015” after a full stop. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, with limited accurate variety. Practise forming complete comparisons with a clear subject and verb, and check tense, articles, agreement, and punctuation in each sentence.
