Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall patterns: textiles had the largest percentage rise, agricultural products changed very little, and gems and jewellery declined. You also compare several categories and include relevant figures, such as textiles rising from about $26 billion to $31.5 billion and the table’s 15.24% increase. However, some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: you describe textiles as having a “5%” difference, although the chart shows a rise of about $5.5 billion, and say gems and jewellery demand was higher than other categories, when its earnings were below petroleum and engineered goods. The overview also calls textiles and engineered goods the biggest changes without distinguishing the largest percentage rise from the largest export values. More precise comparisons would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to chart details and then percentage changes. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the third paragraph shifts between textiles, gems, agriculture, and then petroleum and engineered goods without a clear grouping principle. Linking expressions such as “Although,” “However,” and “Therefore” are sometimes used awkwardly or do not clearly express the relationship between ideas. For example, “Therefore” does not introduce a conclusion that follows from the preceding figures. Group the categories by trend or value, and use simpler, more precise transitions and references to improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “category,” “increased,” and “fell in value,” so the main topic is generally identifiable. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are frequent enough to make parts of the response difficult to read, as in “department,” “catagories,” “exoprts,” and “darstically.” Several expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “highest different,” “demand of gems and jewellery,” and “lost the values” do not clearly describe export earnings. Aim for accurate chart language such as “export revenue,” “rose by,” “recorded the lowest increase,” and “declined.” Proofreading spelling and choosing standard collocations would make your meaning clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “Although” and a conditional opening, “if we look at the individual products.” However, many sentences contain errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and agreement. For example, “The bar chat present information” lacks correct subject–verb agreement and an article, while “which was changeing” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “Although there has one category” is not grammatically complete, and “which have 5% different” has faulty agreement and structure. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
