Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the main categories and report several figures, including petroleum products as the highest earner and the decline in gems and jewellery. However, the response only minimally covers the task: it gives no clear overview of the overall pattern and omits agricultural products entirely. The table’s percentage changes are not reported, despite being a key part of the task. Some figures are also inaccurate: engineered goods are about $57 billion in 2015, not $58 billion, and the petroleum figure is described as increasing “from 60 to 63” rather than from about 61 to 63. Include a concise overview, cover both chart and table, and select accurate comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is some basic sequencing, with petroleum products discussed before textiles, engineered goods and gems and jewellery. However, the response does not develop a clear overall progression: it moves between categories without grouping the main increases and decreases, and there is no concluding overview. The opening repeats the task description rather than guiding the reader through the key features. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “First of all” and “Whereas” are either unnecessary or do not clearly express the relationship between ideas. Organise the report into a brief introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs, using comparisons to connect related figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “exports,” “highest point” and “decrease,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the value of one country export,” “the first export,” and “the rate of export touchs the lowest point.” Repetition of “rate of exports” and “export” also makes the description less precise. Choose standard chart language, for example “export earnings,” “recorded the highest value,” and “fell to,” and use category names directly. Check spelling as well: “touchs” should be “touches,” though a more suitable verb here would be “reached.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “Whereas” and clauses beginning “In 2015” and “in 2016.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentences contain errors that make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “the petroleum products export 61 billions $” lacks a correctly formed verb and uses an incorrect plural, while “the rate of exports in gems and jewellery is increase” has an incorrect verb construction. The opening also uses “one country export” without the necessary possessive form. Sentence boundaries and spacing are unreliable, as in “billion $.In textiles.” Build accurate simple sentences first, then add comparisons with correctly formed past-tense verbs and punctuation.
