Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main categories and give an overview that petroleum products earned the most, while textiles had the greatest percentage increase and agricultural products the smallest. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: textiles were the lowest category only in 2015; in 2016, agricultural products and textiles were approximately equal. Several figures also differ noticeably from the chart: petroleum products rose from about $61 billion to $63 billion, not $66 billion, and gems and jewellery fell from about $43 billion to $41 billion, rather than $40 billion to $39 billion. You report the percentage changes, but do not clearly explain that gems and jewellery was the only category to decline. More accurate comparisons and a sharper overview would make the response more complete and clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph comparing the two years, and a final paragraph on percentage changes. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly the repeated use of “Moreover” and “while,” and the sentence “This export items were slightly difference” does not clearly state what is being compared. The long list of figures also makes the main trends harder to follow. Grouping categories by whether they rose or fell, and using clearer references such as “the latter category” or “by contrast,” would improve progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage change,” “remained,” “largest,” and “in contrast,” so the topic is generally clear. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “highest export,” “accounted by,” “remained inclined exported,” and “slightly difference” do not express the intended comparisons naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “durimg,” “bilions,” and “Gers,” which reduce precision. Aim for standard reporting phrases such as “export earnings,” “stood at,” “rose to,” and “declined by.” More accurate vocabulary would help you describe the data without relying on repeated or awkward constructions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of sentence forms, including an overview and comparisons between years, but control is inconsistent. Subject–verb agreement is faulty in “The bar chart illustrate” and “Engineered goods was,” while articles and sentence structure are problematic in “which was a petroleum products.” The phrase “In 2016, Petroleum products remained inclined exported” is difficult to interpret because the verb pattern is not formed correctly. Punctuation also creates fragments, as in “at 63 bilions.” after the preceding sentence. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting patterns, such as “earnings rose from X to Y,” and check agreement and sentence boundaries.
