Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main categories and report several relevant figures, including petroleum earnings of about 60 billion, engineered goods at roughly 58 and 62 billion, and the decline in gems and jewellery. However, the response only partly summarises the visual: it has no clear overview of the main pattern, such as petroleum remaining the largest export and textiles showing the strongest growth. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: gems and jewellery fell by 5.18%, not 5.81%, and petroleum’s 2016 value is about 63 billion rather than simply saying it “exceed[s] 3%.” The opening also describes the table but does not clearly summarise both visuals. Select the key trends first, then support them with accurate comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response begins with an introduction, then gives general comments before describing individual categories. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “while” show an attempt to connect comparisons. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and the second paragraph mixes an overview, figures, and percentage changes without a distinct structure. The final list of changes repeats information already mentioned, while phrases such as “these categories” do not always make the reference precise. Grouping the information into a clear overview followed by comparisons of the higher- and lower-value categories would make the report easier to follow. Use linking words to show meaningful contrasts rather than simply joining details.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “export earning,” “percentage change,” “increase,” and “decrease,” so the reader can identify the subject and broad trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “the percentage exceed for textiles is higher upto 15%” is difficult to interpret, and “make export” is not a natural way to describe earnings. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “catagory,” “betwee,” and “increses,” which reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language such as “rose to,” “accounted for,” and “recorded the largest increase,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses and contrast markers, for example, “while agriculture and textiles…” and “On the other hand…”. However, sentence structures are limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some statements difficult to understand. Examples include “petroleum products export earning 60 billions,” where the subject and verb form are incomplete, and “in 2016 its exceed 3%,” which has an unclear verb construction. There are also problems with articles, agreement, plurals, and punctuation, as in “and and” and the comma after “2016.” Build accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled comparisons using forms such as “rose from … to …” and “whereas … fell to …”.
