Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both the chart and the table, and your overview identifies the leading category and the sole decline: petroleum products were highest, while gems and jewellery fell. Most reported chart values and trends are broadly consistent with the visual, including the rise in textiles and the near-stability of agriculture. This meets the task well, with some features more fully reported than others. However, the overview says textiles had the lowest earnings, which is not true in 2015, when agricultural products were higher; textiles were lowest only in 2016. The table figure for agriculture is also given as 0.18%, rather than 0.81%. A more precise overview and a final check of the table figures would make the response more complete and accurate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph describing the chart, and a final paragraph covering percentage changes. This gives the reader a coherent route through the information, and contrasts such as “In contrast” help distinguish the decline in gems from the increases elsewhere. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. “Same as Engineered goods were increase” does not form a clear connection, and “In compare textiles” is difficult to follow. The overview also combines several points in a sentence with weak punctuation. Use clearer topic sentences and link comparisons directly—for example, group the two highest-earning categories, then describe the remaining categories—to make progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “rose,” “decline,” “increased,” and “percentage,” and you attempt to vary your descriptions rather than repeat one verb throughout. However, the range and control are limited by frequent spelling and word-choice problems, such as “incriment,” “belions,” “jwellery,” and “improment.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “highest position,” “faced neglijebal different,” and “goods of engineered” do not describe the data idiomatically. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, which is consistent with this level. Build a reliable set of chart collocations—such as “export earnings,” “stood at,” and “recorded a slight increase”—and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and more complex comparisons, including “while” and “which,” and the main message is generally understandable. However, sentence structures are limited, and errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. For example, “petroleum products were at the highest position for both year” has an agreement and phrasing pattern problem, while “Engineered goods were increase” uses an incorrect verb form. “In table all values faced…” also lacks an article and has an awkward grammatical construction. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, as in “in compare textiles.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and comparison patterns, such as “earnings rose from X to Y” and “the figure for agriculture changed only slightly.”
