Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main pattern that most export categories rose while gems and jewellery fell, and you include figures for all five categories. However, the overview is brief and the report does not clearly compare the categories’ overall levels or highlight that petroleum products remained the largest export, while textiles showed the strongest percentage growth. Some figures are slightly inaccurate: for example, the chart indicates about $61 billion for petroleum in 2015 and $63 billion in 2016, rather than $60 billion and $62 billion; small reading differences are acceptable, but the 2016 textile figure is not clearly reported. The response is also 20 words below the required minimum. Develop the overview and explain the textile figures more clearly to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows a broadly sensible order, moving through the categories and ending with a short conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “To conclude” help signal relationships between ideas. However, the organisation is compressed into one main paragraph and a very short conclusion, so the overview and supporting details are not clearly separated. The long sequence of figures in the middle also makes some comparisons difficult to follow, particularly the sentence about agricultural products and textiles, where the percentage changes and dollar values run together. Use a distinct overview paragraph, then group the categories logically, and make each comparison in a complete, clearly punctuated sentence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “downfall trend,” “exported,” and “upward trend,” and the reader can generally understand the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings reduce precision, such as “bar char,” “numerious,” “petorelum,” “bucks,” and “catagory.” “Downfall trend” is also less natural in this context than “decline.” Repeated use of “earned” and “increased” limits variety, while “their percentage rose” is unclear because it does not specify whether you mean export values. Aim for accurate spelling and use precise chart language such as “export revenue,” “rose by,” and “fell to.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect information in longer sentences, for example by using “which increased” and “which decreased,” and the basic meaning is usually recoverable. However, the response relies heavily on simple sentence patterns, and longer constructions are often faulty or unclear. In “the country earned $30 billion from Agriculturl products and $25 billion from textiles their percentage rose,” two ideas are joined without appropriate punctuation or a clear grammatical link. There are also inconsistent sentence openings and missing capital letters after full stops, as in “.in 2015.” Use complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, check agreement and articles, and punctuate each comparison so that the figures and changes are easy to interpret.
