Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important features: petroleum products and engineered goods are the highest-value exports, textiles show the strongest growth, and gems and jewellery are the only category to decline. You also note the very small rise in agricultural products. However, the overview is not fully clear, and some figures are inaccurate: textiles were about $26 billion in 2015, not $28 billion, and the two leading categories were around $60 billion rather than both being described as approximately the same without a clear comparison. The response also gives little direct comparison of the 2015 and 2016 values across categories. To strengthen the report, state the overall ranking and main changes clearly, then support these with accurate figures from both years.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with the leading categories, then mentions textiles and the decline in gems and jewellery, before discussing the remaining increases. This gives the reader a basic sense of the main points. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and the final sentence beginning “while Engineered goods” feels disconnected from the preceding paragraph. Linking phrases such as “In the other side” and “but” do not always express the relationship between ideas accurately, while several points are crowded into long sentences. Use a clearer overview followed by a systematic comparison of categories, and make each paragraph develop one connected set of information.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “exported material,” “declined,” “increased,” and “enhancement,” and the main subject is generally understandable. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “source of nation income of individual country” is not a natural description of the chart, and “the two peaks exported material” does not clearly identify the highest-value categories. There are also spelling errors, including “approximetry,” “improvment,” and “monthes.” Aim for precise, conventional chart language and check spelling; for example, use “export earnings,” “highest-value categories,” and “rose.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “however” and a clause beginning “which made it…”. Nevertheless, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “The provided chart illustrate” and “The chart describe,” incorrect verb forms in “it have jumped,” and the incomplete construction “while Engineered goods came…”. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, as in the comma splice and capitalisation in “Engineered goods, Both…”. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, past-tense reporting, and complete sentence structures. Shorter, carefully punctuated comparisons would help you communicate the data more clearly.
