Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify several relevant features, including petroleum as the leading export category and textiles as having the largest percentage increase. However, the overview is unclear and contains a contradiction: textiles are described as the lowest category, although gems and jewellery and agricultural products were lower in 2015. Several figures are also misreported: petroleum is given as 61% and 64%, rather than approximately $61 billion and $63 billion, while gems are said to have been 47 in 2015 and to fall to 41.82%; the chart shows about $43 billion and $41 billion. The response also ends without reporting the 2016 engineered-goods value. It is 13 words below the 150-word minimum, which limits the detail provided. Develop a clear overview and report accurate values and units.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to selected details. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is difficult to follow because the details are not grouped or ordered consistently, and the final sentence about engineered goods feels unfinished. Linking is also limited: phrases such as “All the segment accounted increament” and “Textiles improve the most following others” do not clearly connect the comparisons. The overview’s claim that textiles were the lowest category conflicts with the later discussion of other categories. Use one paragraph for the main trends and another for comparisons, and connect each figure explicitly to its category and year.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt task-relevant vocabulary such as “exports,” “percentage,” “decreased,” and “improvement,” and the reader can generally identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and many spelling and word-choice errors make the report less clear, including “persentages,” “earnd,” “amoung,” “imcreament,” and “drawbacks.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “shows the top persentages” and “provides drawbacks.” Choose precise terms for values and trends: exports “earned” a value, while a category’s value “rose” or “fell.” Check spelling carefully, and avoid using “percentage” when you mean a dollar value in billions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “All the segment accounted increament” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “Petroleum achived 61% from total export earning at 2015,and showing…” combines an incomplete clause with an unclear verb pattern. Agreement and tense are also problematic in “textiles earnd” and “the gems and jewellery went down.” Articles, prepositions, and punctuation need attention, as in “at 2015” and the missing space after the comma. Build accurate short sentences first, then combine related comparisons using clauses such as “while” or “whereas.”
