Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main pattern: most categories rose, while gems and jewellery fell, and you note textiles had the largest percentage increase. You also compare the leading categories and include several relevant figures. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: petroleum earnings are about $63 billion, not around $65 billion, and engineered goods reached about $62 billion rather than $63 billion. The overview also says the other categories increased “slightly,” although textiles rose substantially in percentage terms. Agricultural products’ near-stability is mentioned only generally, and the final comparison for gems and jewellery does not give its 2016 value. More precise reporting and fuller coverage of the smaller changes would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to category details. The contrast between rising exports and the decline in gems and jewellery gives the report a clear organising idea. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the sentence beginning “In 2016” combines petroleum, engineered goods, agriculture and textiles, then shifts between values and percentage changes. The final sentence is also incomplete in its comparison, leaving the reader to infer the 2016 figure. Linking phrases such as “Regarding textiles” and “The opposite pattern” help, but some connections are awkward or unclear. Grouping categories more consistently and using clearer references would strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “category,” “declined,” “positive changes” and “percentage change,” so the topic is generally clear. There is also some attempt to vary expression with phrases such as “registered a rise” and “opposite pattern.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “percentahe,” “patroleum,” “regestered” and “approximatilly.” Some combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “reached the peak by” and “the smallest share were registered by textiles.” Repeated use of “category” and “recorded” also limits flexibility. More accurate spelling and natural collocations for describing figures and trends would make the report easier to read.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “the category gems and jewellery that declined” and a contrast introduced by “while.” However, several sentences contain grammatical errors that make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, the introduction is missing a verb in “while the table the percentage change,” and “the smallest share were registered” has faulty agreement and sentence construction. The long sentence beginning “In 2016” joins several clauses without clear punctuation, while “The opposite pattern for gems and jewellery” is a fragment. Articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries need more consistent control. Aim to express each comparison in a complete sentence and check agreement and punctuation.
