Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the five categories and give an overview of the highest and lowest earners, as well as the main percentage-change pattern: textiles rose most, while gems and jewellery fell. However, several figures are inaccurate or inconsistent with the chart. Textiles were about $26 billion in 2015 and $31.5 billion in 2016, not $28 billion and $31 billion; engineered goods were about $57 billion and $62 billion, not $58 billion and $61 billion in 2014. The chart covers 2015 and 2016, so the reference to 2014 is incorrect. Your overview also calls textiles the lowest in both years, although agricultural products were higher in 2015 and approximately equal in 2016. Check the plotted values carefully and make the overview comparisons precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph describing the chart, a paragraph on percentage changes, and a concluding statement. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is weakened by the repeated conclusion and by details that are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences. In the percentage paragraph, “then Textiles Gems had highest increase” makes it unclear where one category ends and the next begins. Linking words such as “Overall” and “Looking at the detail” help signal sections, but some connections are mechanical or imprecise. Grouping the categories by rising, falling, or relatively stable earnings, and using clearer sentence boundaries and references, would make the comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “categories,” “percentage changes,” “highest,” “lowest,” and “decreased,” so the reader can generally understand the topic and trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate: “export earning,” “categories product,” “table with replects,” and “had very less difference” do not express the information naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “differnce” and “conlcusion,” and “increased” is used awkwardly in “had 3 percent increased.” These issues sometimes make the description less clear. Practise standard phrases for describing chart values and changes, and check spelling and word forms before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences communicate a basic comparison, but the response relies heavily on simple structures and has frequent errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “petroleum products had the highest figure of sales 62 and 61 billions dollar respectively” lacks a clear grammatical link between the figure and the values, while “Agricultural products had almost same” is missing an article and a complete comparison structure. The sentence beginning “whereas textiles…” is incorrectly separated after a full stop, and the long percentage-change sentence is difficult to parse because its clauses are not clearly punctuated. There is an attempt at a more complex structure with “while,” but control is inconsistent. Build accurate comparison patterns and check each sentence for complete clauses and correct verb forms.
