Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given chart illustrates the ratio of worth of export of one country in various kinds such as petroleum products, engineered goods, gems and jewellery, agricultural products and textiles between 2015 and 2016.

Overall, it can be seen that the percentage of textiles is the highest through the years, while the ratio of petroleum products is the lowest in two years.

In 2015, the earning of petroleum products is approximately $61 billions, by rising $63 billions in 2016, represented 3%. Export of engineered goods is leading with $62 billions in 2016, by 2015 dropping around $56 billions, shows the 8.5%. Supply of gems and jewellery in 2015 is $44 billions while, $41 billions sales in 2015 with 5.18 percentage.

Continue with agricultural products, their earning is roughly same $31 and $32 billions in both two years by climbing the ratio 0.81%. $31 billions income get by textiles in 2016 ; meanwhile, by reducing $27 billions in 2015.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response identifies the chart’s subject and includes several figures, but the main features are not reported accurately enough. The overview says textiles had the highest export value and petroleum the lowest; in fact, petroleum was highest in both years, while textiles were lowest in 2015 and only rose to the agricultural level in 2016. Some details are also confused: engineered goods rose from about $57 billion to $62 billion, not “dropping” in 2015, and the gems figure of $41 billion is incorrectly assigned to 2015. The response does mention the percentage changes, but does not consistently connect them to the correct direction or values. A clearer overview and accurate comparisons of the largest, smallest, rising and falling categories are needed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph of category details, and the categories are generally presented in a recognisable order. However, progression is weakened by unclear or incomplete links between years and figures. For example, “by 2015 dropping around $56 billions” makes the engineered-goods comparison difficult to follow, while “sales in 2015” appears to refer to gems but is not clearly connected to the preceding clause. “Continue with” signals a new point, but the final textile comparison is abrupt. Use one paragraph for the overview and organise the details into clear comparisons, consistently stating the 2015 value, 2016 value and direction of change.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses relevant topic vocabulary, including “export,” “earning,” “percentage” and the product-category names, so the reader can identify the subject. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “ratio of worth of export,” “percentage of textiles” and “supply of gems” do not naturally describe export values. “Leading” is also unclear when used for engineered goods. These choices sometimes obscure the intended comparison, even though the main topic remains understandable. Aim for precise chart language such as “export value,” “earnings,” “accounted for” and “increased/decreased,” and use “approximately” only when introducing an estimated figure.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while” and “as,” but control is inconsistent. Tense shifts occur in descriptions of past data: “is approximately” and “is leading” should be expressed in the past. Several clauses lack a clear grammatical structure, as in “by rising $63 billions in 2016, represented 3%,” and “while, $41 billions sales in 2015.” There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence boundaries, including “$61 billions” and the fragment-like opening “Continue with agricultural products.” Use past-tense reporting consistently and build each comparison as a complete sentence with a clear subject and verb.
