Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main categories and report several relevant comparisons, including petroleum as the highest earner, textiles as the strongest percentage increase, and the decline in gems and jewellery. However, the response only partially summarises the visual: it has no clear overall overview, and some figures or comparisons are inaccurate. For example, petroleum is shown at about $61 billion and $63 billion, rather than $60 billion and $62 billion; engineered goods rise from about $57 billion to $62 billion, but this change is not quantified. The statement that textiles and agriculture earned the same in 2016 is broadly accurate, but the text does not clearly compare all categories or report the table’s other changes. Select the key trends and present them accurately and explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence, moving from the highest earner to lower-valued categories and then to percentage changes. Phrases such as “If we talk about” and “The value of” provide some linking, but the progression is difficult to follow because the information is not grouped into clear paragraphs or organised around an overview followed by comparisons. Several references are unclear, particularly “this both field” and “the percentage go above5.18%,” which makes the final comparison hard to interpret. Use a clear structure: introduce the chart, summarise the overall pattern, then compare the main figures and changes. More precise linking and reference would make the relationships between categories easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage change,” “highest earning,” “decrease,” and “income,” so the reader can recognise the topic and several trends. However, the range is limited and a number of word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “Table view,” “cheapest exports,” “conduct 26 billion,” and “germs and jewellery.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to understand. Spelling errors such as “genrate” and “engneered” also reduce clarity. Aim for standard chart language and accurate category names—for example, “the table shows,” “lowest export value,” “generated,” and “gems and jewellery.” Reusing precise terms is preferable to forcing unsuitable alternatives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, but the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “The chart illustrates the value of one country exports” lacks the possessive form, while “in 2016 this both field genrate same income” has problems with demonstratives, agreement, and sentence structure. The final sentence, “in engneered goods the percentage go above5.18%,” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between the category and the percentage. Work on accurate articles, plurals, verb forms, and complete sentence patterns. Shorter, controlled sentences would help you report comparisons clearly before attempting more complex structures.
