Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s subject and report several relevant comparisons, including the high earnings from petroleum and engineered goods and the strong rise in textiles. However, some figures and trends are misreported: petroleum is about $61 billion in 2015 and $63 billion in 2016, not $60 billion and $61 billion; gems fall from about $43 billion to $41 billion, rather than from $41 billion to $40 billion. The overview is also unclear and does not clearly summarise the main pattern: most categories rose, while gems and jewellery declined, and petroleum remained the largest export. The table’s percentages are mostly included, but their direction is sometimes confused. A clearer, accurate overview and more reliable comparisons would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, a paragraph describing the chart and a final paragraph about the table. This helps the reader locate the information. However, progression is weakened by the unclear overview (“Overall, Export Earnings… which value in billions $”) and by abrupt or confusing links between ideas. For example, “In contrast” does not clearly explain the contrast, and the final table paragraph lists percentages without consistently connecting them to increases or decreases. Some sequencing words, such as “Finally,” are useful, but the organisation within paragraphs is often list-like. Make the overview a complete summary, group related comparisons, and use linking phrases to show the direction of each change.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage change,” “remained constant,” “upward trend,” and “reduced,” so the reader can generally identify the categories and trends being discussed. However, the range and control are limited, with repeated basic wording such as “in 2016” and “at,” and several inaccurate or awkward expressions, including “high demanded,” “fall down,” and “rose up.” Spelling errors such as “illustartes,” “ecports,” “approximatly,” and “increses” are noticeable and reduce precision. Aim for accurate chart-reporting collocations such as “stood at,” “increased to,” and “declined by,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make comparisons clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the response is divided into paragraphs. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and several sentences are incomplete or difficult to interpret. For example, “Overall, Export Earnings in various categories in both years which value in billions $” lacks a main verb, while “In contrast, Gems and jewellery at 41$ billions in 2016 it reduced…” has an unclear structure and tense. There are also problems with articles, prepositions, agreement and punctuation, as in “the table demonstrate” and “in 2016 T 40$ billions.” Use complete subject–verb sentences, keep past-tense reporting consistent, and check sentence boundaries. Practising clear patterns such as “X stood at…, before rising to…” would improve accuracy.
