Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover the main categories and report the overall pattern accurately: petroleum products lead in both years, gems and jewellery decline, and the other categories rise. You also identify textiles as the fastest-growing category and agricultural products as the slowest-growing. This gives the response a clear overview and relevant supporting figures. Some details, however, are inaccurate or unclear: textiles were about $26 billion in 2015, not $27 billion, and in 2016 agricultural products and textiles were both about $31.5 billion, rather than $31 billion. The statement that they earned the same amount “in both years” is also misleading; they were equal only in 2016. More precise reporting of these comparisons would make the account more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph describing the chart values, and a final paragraph covering percentage changes. This sequence helps the reader follow the information, and contrasts such as “while” and “By contrast” are relevant. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear, and the overview’s claim that agricultural products and textiles received the same amount “in both years” conflicts with the later figures. The final paragraph also moves through categories in a less systematic order, while repeated transitions such as “Compared to 2015” do not always clarify how the details relate. Grouping the increases together and then contrasting them with the decline would improve progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “increased,” “fell,” and “percentage,” and the category names are generally clear. There is some variety in how you describe change, but several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “earned the lowest amount of money by exporting Textiles,” “the same number of money,” and “increased their value 3%.” Spelling errors, including “pertroleum,” “agricutural,” and “recieved,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for concise, conventional chart language—for example, say that a category “generated” a certain amount or that its value “rose by” a percentage. This would make your descriptions more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including comparisons with “while,” “although”-style contrast, and time clauses such as “after one years.” The main meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “after one years it fell in 41 billion,” where the time expression and preposition are faulty, and “increased their value 3%,” which needs a grammatical pattern such as “increased by 3%.” There are also agreement and article issues in phrases such as “engineered good increased,” alongside inconsistent sentence punctuation and capitalisation. Check verb forms, singular and plural nouns, and the prepositions used with changes in value. More consistently accurate sentence patterns would strengthen the response.
