Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and give a basic overview that petroleum exports were highest, but the overview is incomplete: agricultural products and textiles were the lowest categories, not both simply “list of the years,” and textiles rose notably. Some figures and trends are reported, including petroleum at about 60 billion and textiles’ 15.24% increase. However, the account omits the decline in gems and jewellery and incorrectly says it fell by 0.81%; the table shows a 5.18% decrease, while 0.81% is the agricultural increase. The comparison of the two leading categories is also imprecise. The response is 23 words below the required minimum, limiting the detail available. Select the main changes accurately and support the overview with clearer comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and phrases such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” attempt to signal relationships. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is uneven: the first moves between categories and years without consistently explaining the comparisons, while the final paragraph mixes percentage changes and a mistaken figure. Some linking is awkward or unclear, as in “whereas Agricultural and Textiles was below in 50.” Use one paragraph to compare export values and another to summarise percentage changes, grouping related categories together. Clearer sentence-to-sentence links and more precise references would make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “exports,” “approximately,” “increased,” “decreased,” and “percentage,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “export earning petroleum products” and “was drastically increased” do not express the intended comparisons naturally; “list of the years” is also unclear. There are spelling errors such as “billons,” and repeated use of “about” reduces precision. Build a small set of accurate terms for describing values and changes, such as “stood at,” “rose by,” and “recorded the largest increase,” and check spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the reader can identify the general topic and some trends. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. Examples include “Petroleum products was recorded,” “Engineered goods increased was,” and “Textiles was drastically increased.” The sentence beginning “whereas” is not properly connected to the preceding sentence, and capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent. These errors sometimes make relationships between categories and years hard to follow. Practise accurate past-tense reporting patterns, such as “Petroleum exports stood at…” and “Textiles rose by…,” then check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
