Student answer (Band 6.0)
The bar-chart compares the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table gives the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
Overall, the exports of petroleum was highest in this chat whereas, the exports of textile was very minor. On the other hand, the table shows that the parcantage of exports of taxtile increases with a high rate and the exports of jewellery and gems decreases with a valuable rate.
To begin with the bar chart, the export of petroleum products was accounted with 60 billion dollars in 2015 which increases in 2016 and become 62 billion dollars while the exports of engineered good was 57 billion dollars in 2015 which also increases in 2016 and become 60 billion dollars. however, the exports of gems and jewellery and agricultural products remain at same costs but a slide decrease was noticed in gems and jewellery. The textiles have a short amount of exports but it is increasing with high rate which is accounted as 28 billion dollars in 2015 and it increased in 2016 and become 31 billion dollars.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both the chart and the table, and your overview identifies the main extremes: petroleum exports were highest, while textiles had the largest percentage rise and gems and jewellery declined. This meets the task well, and the overview shows some selection of key features. However, a few details are inaccurate or unclear: textiles were about $26 billion in 2015, not $28 billion, and gems and jewellery fell from about $43 billion to $41 billion rather than remaining unchanged. Agricultural exports rose slightly, rather than staying the same. The overview also calls textiles “very minor,” which is vague. More precise reporting of the figures and a clearer account of the contrasting trends would make the response more complete and developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph describing the chart, and a final paragraph on the table. Phrases such as “To begin with” and “Now turn to table” help signal the shift between data sources. However, progression within the chart paragraph is less controlled: several categories are joined in a long sentence, and the statement that categories “remain at same costs” is immediately qualified by a decrease, making the relationship unclear. Some linking is mechanical, and “whereas” in the overview does not clearly connect the ideas that follow it. Use shorter, logically grouped comparisons and clearer references to the categories to make cohesion smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage change,” “exports,” “increases,” and “decrease,” so the reader can generally understand the comparisons. There is also an attempt to vary expressions, for example “a high rate” and “a slight increase.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or vague: “exports of textile was very minor,” “decreases with a valuable rate,” and “remain at same costs” do not express the data naturally. Spelling errors such as “parcantage,” “taxtile,” and “enginnered” also reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language such as “export value,” “rose by,” and “recorded the largest increase,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses linked with “while” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “the exports of petroleum was highest” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “which increases in 2016 and become” shifts tense and uses an incorrect verb form. “The export of petroleum products was accounted with” is also not a well-formed passive construction. Practise describing past data consistently in the past tense, and check singular/plural agreement and punctuation when joining clauses. More accurate control of these patterns would improve clarity.
