Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify all five export categories and report several percentage changes, so the response is relevant to the chart and table. However, key figures are misread or described inaccurately: petroleum is given as 60 and 63, while the chart shows about 61 and 63; engineered goods are reported as 54 and 62.5 rather than about 57 and 62; and gems are given as 45 and 40 rather than about 43 and 41. You also describe the gems decline as 5% instead of the table’s 5.18%, and attach units incorrectly to percentage changes. There is no clear overview of the main pattern, such as petroleum remaining the highest earner and textiles showing the strongest growth. Select the main trends and report figures and units precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic sequence, moving from petroleum and engineered goods to gems, agriculture and textiles. The paragraph breaks and markers such as “First” and “Second” help the reader follow the categories. However, the organisation is largely a list rather than a clear summary with an overview followed by grouped comparisons. Repeated openings such as “I talk about” make progression mechanical, while “And, The textiles…” does not connect smoothly to the preceding point. Some references are also unclear, for example “this value” and “this percentage.” Begin with a concise overview, then group the categories by their trends, and use linking phrases to show contrasts and comparisons rather than repeating the same reporting frame.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “exports,” “percentage change,” “petroleum products,” and “gems and jewellery,” which makes the subject recognisable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated or do not fit the intended meaning. “I talk about” is used throughout instead of more suitable chart-reporting language, and “in increase” and “is decreased” are awkward expressions. Units are also confused in phrases such as “60%” and “0.81% billions dollar,” which makes the data harder to interpret. There is a spelling error in “engineeered,” and forms such as “category” should be plural when referring to several groups. Use precise terms such as “stood at,” “rose by,” and “fell by,” keeping dollar values distinct from percentages.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences are short and follow a simple subject-and-verb pattern, with little variety in clause structure. There are frequent errors in sentence formation and grammatical patterns, as in “The percentage change in value petroleum products 3% increase” and “The agricultural products in 2015 to 2016 is increase.” These constructions omit necessary verbs or use verb forms incorrectly, so the reader must work to infer the intended meaning. Articles, plurals and prepositions are also inconsistently controlled, and punctuation includes spaces before full stops. Practise complete comparative sentences, for example, “Petroleum exports stood at about $61 billion in 2015 and rose to $63 billion in 2016.” Adding a few accurate clauses with “while” or “whereas” would also broaden the range.
